The story centres around three people. Rachel James: a hard hearted young female. Michael: a devoted bodyguard of the United Literature Association. Raymond James: A Christian businessman, and head of the ULA.
The United States was blessed with a strong president in the form of Eric Stanton. Stanton was the husband of Esther, and father of seven year old son Bailey. From the outset, young Bailey was of an evil mind, full of jealousy and hatred. Nobody knew why he turned out the way he did, for he had such strong and loving Christian parents who only sought the best for him. Nobody can ever really understand why people decide to turn bad. They only know that Bailey's parents felt themselves to blame for their sons life choices. Bailey, despite his father’s loving care, despised and rejected all notions of Christianity. Bailey was a selfish and arrogant child, and resisted his father greatly. His mother died when he was at the age of six years old. From then on he became bitter and hardhearted, even at times rejecting his own father’s pleas for his son’s salvation. Bailey became jealous of his father’s position as President of the United States, and set about planning a way of his demise.
After many years of successful presidential elections for Eric Stanton, and becoming America's longest running president, the world was shocked when president Stanton was suddenly assasinated. The killer was never found. Nobody ever officially accused the son of the assasination, yet many rumors and suspicions soon formed about the fact that his son had in fact committed the murder. It was a well known fact that Bailey Stanton was a psychologically unstable young adult. How could you hide such a fact when your father was the most powerful man in the world?
Through a series of unfortunate and most disastrous of circumstances, Bailey was thrust into the position of President. There was no vote or caucus. Once in power, Bailey Stanton set about making plans for overtaking third world countries in his quest for a totally Christian free world. He became an oppressor of his own people, and blackmailed other countries into supporting his cause. His first port of call was to convince the countries made up of mostly Muslims, Arabs, and other religions. His method was simple: Play or pay.
As the most powerful man in the world, he was in a position to influence millions of people. Unfortunately, he used that power for evil, and drove many smaller nations to their knees as a result. He became a modern day Hitler, oppressing and threatening nations of people.
Raymond James was a prominent businessman and head of the United Literature Association, an organisation that worked on supplying publications on foreign affairs for dignitaries and world leaders. As such, he worked quite closely with the late President Stanton. What most people didn't know is that since the son's rise to power, ULA has become a cover for an underground unit that distributes pamphlets and Bibles to countries where they have been outlawed. However, there was a leak in the system which exposed her father's true actions. All those connected with Rachel's father are in danger, including herself.
Ray James has become an enemy to all associated with Bailey Stanton. Stanton is against Christianity, and as the President of the US, has brought in a law outlawing Christianity. Anyone found carrying Bibles or Christian literature is to be arrested and shot. Stanton's men want to use Rachel as bait to lure her father into a trap. Ray James has discovered the plot to kidnap Rachel in order to use her as bait. He attempts to protect her by sending her to a safe house. However, Rachel is unaware of any of her father's underground efforts to spread the message of Christianity
When she gets to the safe house, her bodyguard is informed that Rachel’s father is missing. Michael tells Rachel, and Rachel is distraught. It is through this that they begin to become friends. With Michael’s help, Rachel attempts to find her father, and eventually finds her Heavenly Father.
In terms of the actual written manuscript, I have only written part of the first chapter up to the point where Rachel finds out her father is missing. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish it, but its nice as a writer to challenge yourself to write in different genres from what you currently work in. It helps to keep the work fresh.
Here is a small sample of the first chapter. Please keep in mind this was written many years ago when I was a much younger writer.
Rachel wept uncontrollably as she learned the news. The world was under attack. Stanton had unleashed his satanic power on Indonesia, with more countries soon to come. He had already declared war on China, Japan, and the Philippines, through the deployment of mass military forces.
Rachel was distraught as she learned the fate of her fellow countrymen, who fell at the destructible force of Bailey Stanton.
Bailey Stanton was an evil man, bent on the persecution and destruction of all Christians. His father Eric was a wonderful Christian man, and had promoted peace and goodwill to all American citizens. He had been the previous President of the United States. However, his son Bailey, despite his father’s loving care, despised and rejected all notions of Christianity.
Stanton was ruthless in his tactics to rid himself of his father. Through a series of circumstances, his father was assassinated. Nobody ever suspected that his own son arranged the murder, and as a result of the sudden death of their President, his son was thrust into power. There was no vote; the American public did not have any say in their next President.
The mere thought of his presence sent shivers up Rachel’s spine.
She watched as the news broadcast showed pictures of Stanton making a tour of foreign countries. She saw how people would fall at his feet, seemingly worshipping him. He had deceived himself into thinking that this was so. But they were so afraid of his powerful presence that they were afraid of even looking at him. Some called him the devil incarnate. Some even believed he was.
Rachel was distraught as she watched millions of people fall at the feet of this powerful man. She was ashamed to call him her President. Why should a man in such a position of power abuse his position to the extent that people were afraid to even stand in his presence?
Her thoughts turned to her father. She had not seen him for months. She was almost angry at his absence. Although she was more than capable of caring for herself, she found herself lonely without his presence.
Her father had been sent to Australia on matters relating to his work. He had since been living there for the past three years. Although her father was not an arrogant man, he was a firm man. He had always disciplined her in the correct way. She had never been afraid of him. She looked up to him, and respected him. Her mother died when she was at an early age, and her father had been left to care for her.
Ray had always been a good man. He was a man of good Christian virtue. Ray believed that Jesus Christ was the one true Messiah, and only through Him could the world be saved.
Rachel never cared much for her father’s beliefs. She believed in God, but did not consider Him as anything being worthy of her time. Of course, her view was soon to change…

The doorbell rang, snapping her from her thoughts. She rose, only remembering to wipe her eyes before greeting the unexpected visitor.
She opened the door to a man dressed in an expensive suit, carrying a black leather briefcase....
